FEES

Fees are due in advance, payable on the first of each month A set monthly fee will be determined based on the lesson duration (30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes). The monthly fee is also determined by the number of calendar weeks in each month. Invoices will automatically be emailed on the first of each month. Payment is accepted in the form of email transfer or cash. Transfers are to be forwarded to musicaprodigio@gmail.com Receipts for tuition are provided for each month upon payment as an email attachment.

MISSED LESSONS

Missed lessons with no notification will be forfeited. These may not be rescheduled as your teacher has been in the classroom waiting for you and the reserved time could not be used for other students.

Fees for missed lessons are not refunded.

Fees for missed lessons are not credited towards the following month. If lessons are missed two times in a row with no notification your time will be forfeited and given to a student on our waiting list. Lessons missed with less than 24 hours notice given are forfeited. Lessons missed with 24 hours notice given will be offered the opportunity to reschedule according to the teacher’s discretion and pending the teacher’s availability that week. For students whose regular time lands on a statutory holiday you will still have a scheduled lesson. Students who are unable to commit to regular weekly lessons will not have a regular lesson day assigned / reserved during prime lesson hours. They are welcome however to check with the teacher for available times each week they wish to have a lesson. Students are encouraged to be punctual. Students arriving late will not be given extra time as we have back to back students. If you are sick but able to have a lesson then your lesson will be done through Zoom. Your teacher will provide you with a link to the meeting room. We will not provide lessons to students who arrive with symptoms of being sick as per assessment of the teacher.

The rationale for this policy regarding fees and missed lessons:

We are interested in teaching serious students. We make every effort to provide quality instruction. We operate on the values of responsibility, accountability, ethics, and commitment. Non-refundable lesson fees paid in advance are further incentives to avoid absence which slows progress. Please understand that we are holding a specific lesson time slot for you on the agreement that attendance and payment of fees will be regular. Most institutions and studios have the policy of non-refundable tuition. We are committed to reserving a weekly lesson time for you; please be committed to show up for lessons.

PRACTICE TIME

We will recommend an appropriate amount of daily practice time that will be in line with the music goals of the student. Success in music/piano requires a 3-way combined effort, between student, teacher, and parent. Students should follow the practice schedule that their teacher prescribes; practice for most students should be daily (six days per week), but the duration and frequency will be prescribed based on individual needs. For example, a student preparing for a recital or exam will have different needs/requirements than someone who is taking music lessons for leisure enjoyment. Remember that the ultimate goal in most cases is the emotional fulfillment and enjoyment that music gives us. As our music school encourages participation in concerts, festivals and examinations, practicing at home is a vital part of each student's growth and outcome in these events. It is vital that they receive the support needed at home for this.

COMMUNICATION

Communication must be regular. Lesson notes will be emailed with any applicable attachments for each lesson. Home support is needed by providing access to the student to these lesson notes as each item will have detailed instructions on what is expected and direction on how to achieve this. There may also be audio and video support added to the lesson notes. Email notifications will be sent to remind you of upcoming lessons each week. Remember if you block or choose to not receive these notifications you will also block lesson notes and any invoices / receipts as well.

CODE OF CONDUCT

During lessons we ask that students arriving please wait in the waiting area so as not to disturb the previous students' lesson time. Any siblings or friends attending with a student we ask are quiet as they wait. Distractions may inhibit learning. We ask students to respect the instrument they are learning on here and any other instruments and equipment that may be in the learning room. Any abuse done to the instruments including kicking, hitting, drawing on, etc. will result in the students parent / caregiver being liable to either repair the damage or replace it. Students should always arrive prepared for their lesson with all their music books. We ask that students also be picked up at the conclusion of their lesson time. Students however are welcome to wait in the waiting area when the lesson is done for their rides but are asked to be quiet as the next lesson is in session.

TERMINATION

We request one month's notice when the student intends to stop taking lessons. This is usually convenient since lesson fees are paid one month in advance (at the beginning of each month). It also allows the teacher to prepare closure for the final lesson.
